Hello everyone,
There is a special place in my collection for vintage MTBs brazed by builders traditionally associated with road bikes who later stopped making them. The next time I travel to North America, I have both Marinoni and Fuso (Dave Moulton) projects to bring back to Switzerland.
So, when I saw this Masi mountain bike, brazed by Alberto in Milano, in nearly original condition and specification, I jumped at the chance.
It was delivered to my door in the dark earlier this week - thanks Michel! Here are some "before" pictures to set the stage before I started working on it.
This is clearly an uncommon mountain bike, but I wonder how rare it is. Does anyone else here have one? Does anyone know how many Masi mountain bikes were built? Google searching does not bring up many others.
And don't worry, the yellow gel saddle has already been replaced by a 1987 black suede Turbo, with the computer, pie plate and Ferrari badge next on the list of items to be removed. New pictures next time.
Enjoy,
The Kid
