Retro Newbie
Here we go! I bought this 1987 Fisher Montare after watching a bunch of Old Shovel’s resto mods on YouTube.
The paint had a bunch of painted over rust spots and chips.
So, I decided I would repaint it. My research on the Montare unveiled that it came in red or an upgraded blue-white fade (example I found online pictured below).
It became clear to me that a red-white fade would be the perfect restomod throwback paint job, so I stripped the bike of its parts for sanding. The original bottom bracket was rusted together. It was awful to remove, by the final tap of the mallet to remove it shot it out with a cheer of joy!
I sanded the paint off to the bare steel frame.
Next came the primer.
The next step was painting the under coat for application of custom printed masking stencils.
