1987 ALAN CARBONIO

orritt1974

Dirt Disciple
Here's my latest build up, mainly all the same as what I bought, just stripped down, cleaned, polished, greased and re-built.
Bought from a lovely lady on this site!
I have only used it once due to weather but I absolutely love it!
I got Alan cycles in Italy to confirm year and correct decals which they sent out to me.
fitted new seat, bars, bar tape, tyres and cables just for safety when I use it.

nice work indeed, looks classic! was tempted to buy that bike, couldn't quite justify it though. Like what you've achieved there - just need to line that front tyre logo up ;)

Yes that's great, I used to race one of these similar size too with 8speed ergo chorus in 1994 it was great, glad you like riding it, future upgrade would be dura ace levers rear mech and calipers. Lovely to see the dura ace post and stem :)

I agree I don't think its a genuine ALAN Carbonio either. They have 3 cable guides on the top tube, Plus the weave in the carbon looks all wrong to me & the one I have has a clamp on front gear Not a braze on one. aAphoto of the under side of the BB might confirm one way or the other? But my money is on it being a British Eagle.

Re:

It's strange why people have to do their best to put down what others do like its a competition?! 'Mine is better than yours'. The cycling world is strangely full of you people who cannot just appreciate and be happy for others, I'll bet you go out on your bikes and don't speak to people who aren't as 'good' as you either.
Rant over, I actually sent all pictures, including the underside of the BB to Alan bikes in Italy, it was them who confirmed what it was, funny how I would take their word over yours? Anyway, be happy and keep on cycling! ;-))

Re:

I am calm, it's just that now, after deciding not the read what I wrote at the beginning, that Alan, the makers, have confirmed it as an Alan, you have now turned this post from just a simple sharing of a nice bike, which is/should be the reason why we are all on here into a big debate of people giving an unwanted opinion. I didn't start the post with 'can anyone tell me what this is'. I have no intention of selling this bike but in any case who made you the sales police! You didn't have to post anything? Also, your explanation of what you were trying to achieve doesn't match up to your first post.
