1986 Muddy Fox Courier - 100% original
One owner from new (my Father), having looked back through old family photos we think it is a 1986 model. It is only for sale to free up some storage space now that my parents have recently downsized.
This bike has had limited use since my father bought it. This can be seen as no parts have ever been replaced. The tires, brake pads, cables, saddle, chain etc are all original. If they look almost 30 years old, its because they are. The foam grips did fall apart thinking about it, so they have been changed. The bike has moved around a fair bit, due to various house moves, therefore does have a few transport and storage marks and blemishes. There is no real damage however, no dents, cracks etc etc. The rust is actually very minor, and could easily be touched up. Ive tried to take honest photos. Some might say it looks better in person as you're not looking for every blemish.
The bikes components include:
Muddy Fox lugged frame, built from Tange tubing. Paint is a really nice pearlescent white, hard to see in the photos.
Matching Muddy Fox steel fork.
Suntour friction thumb shifters
Suntour XC Sport front and rear derailleurs
6 speed freewheel.
Sugino triple chainset 170mm.
Dia Compe 'moto' style brake levers.
Dia Compe cantilevers, all 4 pads are original.
Araya rims on large flange Sansin hubs.
Also included is the original rack, however this is not pictured.
Size is deceptive. It looks like a gate, but is not actually that big.
Horizontal top tube is 54cm c-c, seat tube is 53cm c-c, the head tube is 180mm, and standover clearance is 81cm.
Going back to condition, some parts do let the bike down. The saddle was once dinner for a mouse, the tires are very perished, and a number of the spokes are very rusty. This is all cosmetic however and easily sorted. We felt it was better to show it how it actually is.
No longer for sale, decided to keep it!
