1986 BSA racer

Cleggymyster

Retro Newbie
Hi All, Ihm new to the site, I’ve just retired and have acquired my first project. Can anyone help identify my bike. What I know so far is it’s a BSA from 1986 it has gold Mallard hubs dated 1984. It’s clearly a Raleigh frame from what I’ve seen but the head tube badge is puzzling me, I’ve seen 1 other of the same colours on what looks like the same bike. Can anyone help? IMG_1702.jpeg

the machine's three Sachs-Huret components are marked with a date notation of four numerals

the first two numerals indicate the week of the year and the second two indicate the year as in this example -

the backside of the crankarms of the cycle's Sakae Ringyo chainset are marked with date as detailed here -

the portion of the handlebar stem down inside the steerer is likely to be marked with a date

the backside of the brake caliper arms should be marked with a clockface type date symbol as shown here -
