We have decided to let the saracen conquest we restored this year go......

Its had a full and very extensive nut and bolt restoration.....see thread.

Its catalogue spec, including now the originsl Hutchinson tyres and shimano pedals (added since the photos in the summer).

The only unoriginal part is the seatpost as we fitted a longer one.....but the shorter fluted original is included in the spares along with the derailleur guard and some derailleur spares.

The full spec is on page 8 of the thread here.....

Basic measurement are.....

Seat tube c to c 21"
Seat tube c to c 22"
Top tube c to c 22 3/4"
Head tube 6 7/8" (175mm)

We are selling as to be honest it needs slightly shorter owners! In the pictures its set up for me at 6'4"......but is really not comfortable. The problem is the geometry used, really needs a more touring set up with bars almost level with stem. The seat was also never designed to go this high as the original post is only 6" out of frame max! Also as you can see, the stem is running at its max and needs to go down ideally.

We would guess that ideally, it needs a rider about 5'8" to 6'1" at a guess. But obviously you know your size and what's comfortable......for us its not....possibly our height.....possibly our age!

We are asking £575 for it. Which we think is pretty fair and less than a straw poll of retrobikers we personally asked! Also considering its got a full excellent condition, fully restored m700 deerhead group set (including hubs), it may even make a cheap donor for your build.....sacrilege......but!

There is no postage option......we though about this hard, but its too good to risk, so its cash on collection from beautiful Suffolk. The lower price also is to help you pay for your petrol!

20220701_111940.jpg No offers, we are not desperate to sell and tbh,we will strip it for the groupset and sell the fuselage if it comes to it......so if you want frame, forks, stem, bars, post, grips.....let me know.

Any questions, just ask.

Btw, its clocked about 150 to 200 dry summer miles since its build...so run in, re torqued, niggles fixed and ready to go.

This one has lived its life in the house since being finished and is whistle clean still....

Cracking bike and cracking price. Shame it's the wrong size, otherwise no doubt it would be a keeper. Lovely build thread too.

Yes....its rather annoying, but sometimes you just can't tell till its up and running. But it seems a bit silly to hang onto such a nice bike, just to hang it on the wall ( as such).

It deserves a good home and like all bikes....to be used! Its the model of bike that went up Kilimanjaro......it dont deserve to be sat in a garage!.....iho. 20221020_094026.jpg

I would also consider swaps.....for a decent handbuilt, 26" wheel, Roberts / swallow / yates etc frame with a big head tube.....200mm +. As dorris wants one too now the pine is almost done!

Like this.....sorry to hijack your picture @oaklec but that would be perfect!
