1985 Peugeot Canyon Express

Re:

So I took the bike for a steady 8 mile ride today, once you get it rolling it's pretty swift, helped along by the ridiculous 50/42/32 Chainset
I fitted a new Sunrace 6 speed 14-28 freewheel which solved the skipping chain, think I may need to replace the BB axle and cups though as it seems to keep working itself a little loose.
Just waiting for some wheel reflectors and it'll be virtually catalogue correct :)

I'd been looking for a properly retro mtb for a while, and when I saw this I had to have it
It is, I think, a 1984 or '85 (pretty sure now its an "85) Peugeot Canyon Express. I was drawn to the biplane fork and the bullmoose bars.
It has massive Dia-Compe brake levers and Suntour thumbies, the rear mech had been "updated" to a Shimano Exage Trail mech but I have now fitted the correct Suntour Alpine Gear mech.
Photos are from the seller
I've changed tyres to amberwalls, replaced cables and chain , and will also change pedals and saddle.
I'll update with recent pics in the coming weeks, but I think it should make a nice mtb to pootle around on :)
Hi Jimo746, I'm in the process of making a video series; possible ending up as a book one day, about my life with the bicycle, espcially the mountain bike. It just so happens that the Peugeot Canyon Express is the very first ATB; as they were then known, I'd seen in the metal and it steered me down a long a winding singletrack to this day. So reason I'm messaging is to ask if I can use your images in my video, possible just the bar/shifter shot?

By the way, haha my names Graham Foot of Bigfoot bikes, Smokestone Bikes and have a youtube channel Grahamfootbicyclelover.

Thanks
Graham
