interesting to see 1995 prices - I paid £399 for a peak finder in 1984 after working and saving all summer to buy it. The first bike I paid for with all my own money and my dad thought I was mad at the time ( I was only earning £65 a week). In those days everything was sent by post and I remember poring over those gestetner printed (no photocopiers) and similar spec sheets from Muddy Fox and also hand written letters from Geoff Apps describing range rider bikes he could build.
I can clearly remember how ridiculously rude Enid Powell was when I went to the shop to buy ( there were always people hanging around in the shop asking questions but not buying anything) and it was only when I showed her a wad of cash that I got some attention - she made Andy Powell build up my bike same day ( I don't think he got any lunch) and I collected it that afternoon as the shop was closing and was told not to touch the decals as they were put on a few minutes before. I still have frame and forks today although it is built up with entirely different and much lighter components. I rode that bike all over Europe and on several long distance cycle tours over 3000km. so I couldn't part with it. It also did several editions of the Polaris event and was even carried over striding edge once
