1985 Mercian Strada Speciale NO LONGER FOR SALE - REMOVE

Unfortunately one of my bikes has to go to to pay the bills, so here it is.

1985 Mercian Strada Speciale finished in candy apple red, with gold and gold lug lining. It has to be seen to be appreciated fully. This is made from 753t tubing, not r, so extremely rare, and it is kitted out in full Campagnolo C-Record (bar the seat post which is Super Record). Frame size is 53cm, with a 55cm top tube to give a really nice position. In its current guise, it weighs in at just over 9kg.

Please note the wheels shown are not included in the sale, and also note the pic was taken without the brake cables, hence levers are drooping. It is now a fully functioning bike which I have done a 25 minute '10' on this year! If anyone wants more details, then please PM. I can send some more pics if you are interested in specific parts / areas of the bike.

I hope I am in the right ball park with the price:

£1100 without wheels

£1200 with a set of C-Record on Mavic Open CD 36 spoke wheels - these are not the wheels shown in pic

I will give it a week, and then may offer frame and forks only. For info, Mercian still build this frame which will set you back £1152 in 853.

Looks like I am asking too much, but thanks!!

Re:

That's a georgeous bike - I don't think it's over-priced just that the market unfortunately favours the bike splitters. To be honest you might do better if you need the money to split and shift the delta brakes etc on ebay however hard it might feel

My missus wants me to sell it, so if it doesn't go I will be happy!!

No interest on savings accounts - might as well invest in old bikes - that's my excuse ;)

I agree on that. Can't see them going up in price forever though. Eventually the likes of us buying bikes we couldn't afford in the 80's will have whet we want, and the market will dry up or move on to the 90's with the next generation.

Re:

I bumped into a lovely old chap a few weeks ago, on a quiet August day out, riding a 50 year old Mercian fixie. I felt compelled to shout 'nice bike' and he stopped to tell me all about it :D The nineties lads/lassies will alway appreciate a quality bike
