Here’s some photos of my recent ’85 Dawes Ranger refurb.
Not one for the purists, this, as I decided to ditch certain original parts to make it a bit more enjoyable to ride and fun to use. Hence refurb rather than restoration.
I’ve owned it from new (still have the receipt!) although it’s done the rounds of family and friends as a loan bike for many years without any real maintenance - other than about a pint of 3-in-1 on the chain, which was so black and solid it was standing off the chainring!
Finally got it back last year and decided it was too good to let go, despite not really having the space for it. It’s now cleaned up and slightly transformed into a beach, town or camping cruiser with T-rack rack on the front for fun and utility.
A few more photos and original marketing leaflet on my profile for anyone’s who’s interested.
