1980's Rickert Spezial with a Superbe Pro build.

Old School Hero
Finished up this 1980's Rickert Spezial today. I had picked up the frameset a couple of months ago as a retirement gift to myself. Original plan was to build it up with a fairly decent old Campagnolo Athena groupset I have. But the call of Suntour Superbe was too strong. Found a nice complete groupset and bought it. Then I had a wheelbuilder lace some sweet polished Velocity Fusion rims to the Superbe hubs I got with the groupset. I sourced some chrome red brake housings for this also that match up really well to the frame. Cockpit is a Fizik Kurve Chameleon saddle on an aero Campagnolo seatpost. I used a Nitto Pearl stem with Soma HWY One Handlebars. I'm still waiting on a silver bottle cage to come in for this but weighed the bike with another cage. It was right at 21 lbs even.

Hugo Rickert was a custom builder from Dortmund Germany known for making bikes for the German National and Olympic teams. He never took on an apprentice so the business ended when he could no longer continue. His wife did the lug lining on the kitchen table but he did everything else.

Not the best of pictures, it's still winter here with snow all over.

That’s such a great colour and I’m loving the Suntour group instead of the usual Shimano/Campag.
