1979 Carlton Professional Mk.5 - restoration advice needed

Thanks, I'm looking forward to getting it on the road. That Corsair is a nice looking bike.

I'm riding a Raleigh Equipe at the moment. 18-23 steel, cheapo Sachs derailleurs, steel wheels etc. I got it for £35 as I wanted a bike that I could leave at the station without worrying about it being stolen, and I wanted something more interesting than an ali hybrid.

Considering it's a near bottom of the range bike from 1986 or so, it's in great condition and everything works as it should. It just needed cleaning, greasing and new cables. The weight though! It's about 20% heavier than the Carlton, despite being a smaller frame.

I rolled around on this in my late teens, the 12 speed - nice bike, fast 74 degrees parallel angles, shame about the bog awful paint, even the 'all ball bearing ' pedals rusted after a year 😭

Looks really good in blue and silver. I can't believe you sold it!

My project has gone away for the winter as I had some other jobs around the house and garden that took priority. To be continued next summer!
