New here, so hello. After spending way too much time reading and researching, I've bought my first retro road bike, at a very reasonable price. The bike is in very good, original condition. It does not appear to have had a respray at any time. There is very little rust and not a lot of paint scratching either.
The problem is, after all that research, I'm still not 100% sure what I have purchased!
I think it is a 1978 or 1979 Peugeot Super Competition PXN10LE or PKN10E or PXN10E......

Perhaps the most relevant is the last one, which lists and details catalogue components for each model.
e.g. PXN10E "Super Competition" -- fully chromed fork, painted rear stays and dropouts, 531 throughout, plain Nervex lugs; Stronglight 106 cranks; Mafac LS2 sidepull brakes; Simplex SX410TSP rear, SJA 102 front derailleurs w/ SLJ retrofriction shifters; Ideale 2001 saddle w/ SR Laprade seatpost; Maillard 700 low-flange hubs, Mavic Module E 700C rims; pearl white or metallic blue.
The components on my recent purchase are:
Reynolds 531 frame
Fully chrome Reynolds 531 forks
Painted rear stays
Simplex dropouts
Simplex skewers
Stronglight crank
Top tube braze ons (3)
Weinmann 605 brakes front and rear
Atax stem and bars (Guidons Philippe)
Mafac brake levers
Normandy Luxe Competition rear hub
Maillard front hub
Simplex (a single large S branding) derailleurs
Rims appear to have "Record" stickers
Laprade seat post
San Marco seat
This almost seems to match the PXN10E above, apart from the Weinmann brakes. The PKN10E has Weinmann brakes, but not fully chromed forks.
Lastly, there does not appear to be a serial number under the bottom bracket.
