1975 Raleigh Sprint Restore to fixie.

Hi all,
Its like Christmas, parts arriving.
Got the brakes and proper track nuts today, still waiting on seatpost bolt and cranks.
Think ill stick with the black Fizik Arione and black bar tape as I have them floating around the garage.

Think my next project will be to restore an old frame into a coaster bike, any thoughts?

Spa cycles do nice Brooks look alike saddles.

Well guys,

All done, managed to get a cheap turbo saddle and used that, think my next build will have a brooks.
Let me know what you think.

This Raleigh is really beautiful. I don't think my own will look anywhere near this awesome result.
Ian is totally right the white Turbo is spot on.

Well done Alan. What are the brakes on it. I am thinking of replacing my brakes with some more modern ones in a similar style instead of the original ones. I might put mine in for a powder coating next year. Unless I get another one to do up. I have got a few parts now as i have been buying all sorts to replace on mine.

Hi, The brakes are Tektro R359 long drop/nut fitting calipers, unfortunately you have to use caliper levers to make them work correctly and the tektro levers arent that great.

Thanks. I was not sure about Tektro, although I did look at some and also looking at some Shimano that look very similar. The 101, Ultegra and Tiagra plus other dual pivot brakes but my bike is a low end frame being an 18 - 23 steel. Although it is a light frame and I am putting alloy wheels on it, I might still go down the dual pivot brakes route. I think the vintage lights will be heavier than the bike. lol

If I was to be critical I'd say that I would have used a daintier brake lever, those on there are so chunky they make the bike look small! Not overly struck on the seatpost either.....

But that's just me being picky It's a nice looking bike.

Hi, yeah brake levers are crap and ugly looking, I was trying to do this on a budget and £16 for levers was cheap. The seatpost was all I could find in budget without going to the old steel type.

Wheels are cheapo fixie wheels of ebay, Alex DM18 Rims on Quando Hubs.

My next build ill spend a bit more on.

Dang I haven't even got to ride it yet, been off work with bad neck/back.
