1961 Raleigh superbe (Helio)

Re: Color and brake cable

Theres a few things bugging me about this. First off is the color, not sure what it is me and my dad speculated on racing green or Raleigh Green again not sure. The brake cables are a DIY job here and a real pain to deal with, whoever had this before me simply used normal cable and then added a modern pinch bolt. I know these types of calipers used special cable (to me at least) wonder where I can get that cable.

Re: bike Color

So i scowered the web and found it to be CF.006 Raleigh Green. which may or may not be helpful but at least thats its raleigh designated color.

Re:

Hmm other Raleigh catalogues that have CF. Color codes in them clash with this and each other so I'm not sure what's going on here..

Re: 1961 Raleigh superbe

Raleigh Superb were all dark green, Rudge equivalent Maroon and Humber dark blue. They all had a few detail differences. The Humber had a "duplex" double fork blade and Rudge a different frok crown. All 3 Makes had their own sales reps, who all sold Triumph. This was in mid 50s.
Cycle shops fairly close to each other could each then sell one of the main Raleigh makes.

This model of bike can be seen on page 20.

I wonder if anyone has even tried to recreate the Raleigh Colors to make it easier for people.

Mine is outfitted with a FG 4 speed Dynohub running into a Filter Switch Unit that I myself bought after the fact and attached (Originally the bike had a 2 way electronics terminal block taped onto its frame which was ugly). The lights and dynamo still work but im gonna have to try and service it, when freewheeling the pedals move so im not sure if this is an issue. Not many bike shops around me touch gear hubs.

I'll take some images of the bikes current state tomorrow.

List of parts required for complete setup

Might as well list the parts I require for this bike

For the Bike to Function:
New rim tape inner tubes and Roadster Tires (Still had original Michellin Roadster tires with original cloth rim tape)
Proper Brake Cable (Current cable setup is DIY using a Cable Clamp which is a huge pain to deal with.)

Non Essentials:
An Original 15" Inflater (ive seen a few matching ones around)
Possibly a new Rubber Reflector as mine has seen better days.
Kitbag (god knows where i can find one of these)
Correct size R.I Propstand (the one it came with is too big and is also kinda broken)
Replacement Mudguards
Bottom Plate with screw and nut for the F.S.U
Chaincase doors and replacement Pie Plate? (current plate is DIY possible cause of scraping against pedals.)

Re: 1961 Raleigh superbe

Original tyres were always Dunlop, probably with silver sidewall, was that the silver sprite? Memory going a bit.
Try a bit of oil in the SA hub, could be cones a bit tight, but get some oil in the ball race above the cog.
