That is a good point. Not stating the obvious at all, I didn’t think of that and none of my FDs have a cable stop on them
Yeah, I guess this is one of those things you don't really think about until you run into it, which I did on a build last year. There are a few FDs which have two versions - one without the cable stop on the band, and one with - here's a Campagnolo example which I used:
