1954 FH Grubb Restoration

Thanks for all the replies folks, great to hear from you all. It was Dad’s 16th birthday present in 1954 and he was still riding it regularly in the 1990’s. He did a restoration on it around 1982 and added the “Villa” colour scheme and a later version of the FH Grubb badge and some newer components from Weinman etc. I do still have all the components so I am working through what might be original or added later. I do have the original badge too which is great. Undecided on painting yet, it was a dark red originally but painting might erase some memories of it being Dad’s bike so will probably see how it cleans up initially. Were Grubbs built with Campagnolo components in the 50’s ? Thanks in advance.
 
They would probably be selling with either Campagnolo or a mix of french and British components of the era.

Personally I would keep the paint scheme as is given that it was important enough to your dad to make such a personal statement on his bike..
plus such mementos are priceless in our ever so short lives.
If in the future if the paint is badly failing you could then either choose to reproduce it or return to stock colour scheme.

Were Grubbs built with Campagnolo components in the 50’s ?

Campagnolo Gran Sport would be the most obvious choice for the gears, I would think. They are quite easy to source, as well. The brakes wouldn’t have been Campagnolo, though.

Good luck with everything, I’m sure it will be an enjoyable experience bringing it back to life.

Front derailleur - Suntour Cyclone.
Rear derailleur - Suntour Maeda 4532.
Gear shifters - Campagnolo Record.
Bottom bracket - Shimano BB UN52
Pedals - Miche.
Toe clips - no name.
Headset - Campagnolo Nuovo Record.
Headset bearings - 20 x 3-16” races.
Stem - Cinelli.
Handlebars - Cinelli 64-40
Seat post - SR Laprade.
Saddle - Brooks Professional.
