Gentle clean later and all back together. Need to find some Fibrax pads now.
Aim overall here is clean, repair, only replace as a last resort and with as close to the original as possible (well, rather as funds and availability allows lol)

If you have vinegar, it works as well. As does Coca-Cola, lemon juice, orange juice. So there are options.
Oxalic acid also so rhubarb leaves.

Vinegar, by coincidence, was what was in the mayo jar that kicked off this whole branch line of alternative cleaning product discussions… so I think we’re now back on track.
