Definitely a 1990. My first ever MTB was the 1989 with Exage Country, and the 1990 had the 300LX. Mine was 259 GBP and that was full retail. I was originally sold a 22" frame (I'm 5'10"...).
After two years and many offroad miles I snapped the right chainstay just forward of the dropout whilst accelerating away from traffic lights on Hagley Road in Birmingham. Halfords replaced the frame under warranty, swapping it out for the correct size. Then it got stolen. The components were completely rooted, so it probably ended up in a canal. It sported a Flexstem for a while until it snapped.
By then I'd already bought a Marin Pine Mountain Browning Suspension so wasn't too bothered.
