Retro Guru
£495 complete bike as shown in latest build thread entry https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/pioneer-no-3-red-or-dead.489226 and pictured below

The frameset has had professional dip, strip, powder coat and is in peachy condition. It is , like a lot of Pioneers, mixed tubing of unknown pedigree. My guess is columbus and Reynolds. The size is small to medium, sloping top tube and high bottom bracket plus decent length seat post mean a good fit for folks 5ft 7 to 5 ft 10 I reckon* The fork is non original but is a nice light 'spinner' threaded 1"

New Parts: 1x9 drivetrain is new Microshift Advent with clutch mechanism and light action shifter , XLC cantis, Tektro levers, Easton bar , Rito stem, 9 speed chain, Raceface narrow wide chainring, surly rear hanger, kidsracing cable triangles, new campy outer cables and teflon coated inners and sundry blingy red anodised finishing bits including lovely seat clamp and flashy red anodised QR skewers :) Headset and BB are both new as is the Selle Italia saddle.

Used: Panaracer SS tyres on smooth Hope XC hubs ( which are in mint condition). Mavic front rim X517 and aeroheat rear. The gearing is 38T front to new 11T-38T cassette. 300mm black stem. used unmarked pedals and cranks

the above price is for Retrobike members and is barely meeting the cost of the frameset, wheelset, parts and paint job, if not sold to a forum member, I will move this on to Ebay thereafter and price will go up to try to break even.
collection from Cheshire preferred, can arrange to meet soft southerners somewhere convenient - *PM me to discuss or to request additional measurements

these don't come up that often and don't usually look this nice. This one has the added advantage of really sharp and reassuring braking, smooth shifting and no chain slap while retaining retro looks.

thanks for the interest and comments... to answer the size Qs : The frame measures just over 17" ( centre of BB to top of seat tube) so its more like 17.5"

I would add 2" to this for the notional 'frame size' given the very high bottom bracket and aggressively sloped top tube.
From the front to the back of the top tube the 'stepover' height is 30 inches at the front sloping down to 27" to the floor by the seat tube - I currently have the saddle set to 36" from the ground and the seat post can easily extend to 40" from the ground or greater - I am 5ft 9" and its an easy fit - I would say that anyone from 5'7" to 5' 11 would find this rideable, people 6 ft and over would find this small I reckon.

You’ve done a lovely job with this. Absolutely pucker looking finish, tasteful, and I appreciate your cabling.

What is the rough effective top tube measure please (90s arse up, head down just doesn’t work with my back)? Also, the bar looks relatively high (which is great) - is it achieved just by a really long steerer? I can’t quite see what’s going on with the spacers etc. thanks

Hi, the horizontal effective length of top tube is 21 1/2 " or 54cm. The effect of having a longer steerer and a forward facing 100mm ahead stem is that the distance between middle of seat post and handle bar is 65cm or 25 1/2 " so it does help to have the stem slightly higher and forwards to make it less cramped and a little more upright. Of course it's totally possible to cut the steerer and fit a quill stem with less reach for a more aggressive stance.
There are two fat spacers on the steerer to fill some of the space left by leaving the steerer longer.
