Considering fitting some bounce to my 2010 Kona Blink. I have little experience and less knowledge of suspension so any advice/thoughts on what to look out for/to avoid in used market gratefully received.
I am sub-9st and will only be for very gentle terrain - lightness the priority! Only needed in attempt to reduce wrist pain from shock.
Thanks, Dave.

Re:

If light is your priority, rock shox sid are probably your best option. I don't know so much about other brands but the sid is the lightest rs fork and at your weight will fine. I am a good few stone heavier and don't have any issues.

Your blink is 26 inch right? Disc only? No idea on steerer tube requirements but 1 1/8 straight or tapered are likely candidates. If you want the lightest, the world cup version has carbon crown and steerer.

It is available in 120mm too.

The reba is almost the same fork, shares a lot of parts but usually slightly heavier as a result of some differences. Cheaper though.

In my experience fox are heavier, wear more quickly and require more frequent servicing.

Not up on other brands but I'm sure others will be able to give opinions on them.

Have to agree with above, if your not heavy then RS sids are a great fork.

Re:

I'm not light at 13st ish and have 29er and 26er sids and not noticed any issues. Have also got rebas and revs, the latter are stiffer and heavier as you'd expect.

Re:

Thanks all. Yes, 26" running discs, straight 1 1/8 steerer. Had a few SIDS years ago, very nice as I recall. Take some finding though I guess, especially with long steerer. Best start searching...

Never riden the newer sids with the fatter legs, only the older style that have a fair bit of flex.

How long a steerer do you need? Colour? Qr or bolt through?

I've a vgc black manitou R7 pro 120mm. 26" disc only. has lockout, Steerer uncut at 260mm
weighs 1650gms
Certainly suitable for light xc, and with me owning it it's mostly on the road
Had one service a couple of years ago and reported it didnt need it, not really used since i got the Cove(150mm revelation)

Pic fitted to the ti.
I've since taken off the red decals so it only says R Seven.
