Re:
Wow Wildebeest, this is awesome! How amazing that you came across this. I’m starting to wonder if I have actually had the bike 5 + years and have just lost track of time a bit. Will have a dig around for the original ebay/paypal receipt lol. Thanks for the history, if you look up this thread their is another lovely orange sub 5 in what looks to be the same paint colour but, I haven’t seen another Clockwork in this colour so it is definitely a rarity.
The bike is absolutely fantastic - a lovely ride. The condition has always been decent on it but, when I originally got it I noticed a little bit of bubbling/paint peel under the chain stay and BB - so I sanded back, applied a primer and a little model paint (that wasn’t a great match but, I was determined to provide a bit of protection - prevention is better that the cure and all that..…) The touchups aren’t in particularly noticeable places, and the but of them can be hidden with a chain stay protector. I am away from my computer all weekend but, if I get a chance next week I will try and get some better pics of these parts;-)
In an ideal world I would hang onto this bike but, because I’m in a London flat and already have an heirloom Clockwork I have to let it go due to lack of storage / time to get it at its true potential.
I will almost certainly regret selling it also - although it seems like a natural cycle (excuse the pun) for it to go to its former owner. If you’re in a position to buy I will get a PM over to you next week and we can try to sort something out - I originally didn’t want to post because I have had bad experiences with couriers of late but, lets discuss options.
Its fantastic that you got in touch, this is what is so great about specialist forums.
