10th Anniversary Clockwork in....... original Diesel Blue Pearlescent

Hi All,

I am selling a 10th anniversary Clockwork which may be a bit of a rarity. I bought the bike off eBay four ish years ago from an owner who told me it was a prototype paint job, A one-off diesel blue. The blue has a pink pearlescent fleck that reflects the light really nicely and with some time and T-cut would look very pretty indeed. The bike also features an alu fork that looks to be fairly rare as it doesn't feature the angular shoulders of the standard 10th anniversary item and of course is made of lightweight ally.

Unfortunately I have no further info to go on with this apart from what this guy told me in the original purchase many years ago.

When I acquired the bike it was in a bit of a tatty state, so I have cleaned it up a little and applied a bit of primer and touch up to the underside of the chain stays. Be aware - This is not a correct colour match but, rather a darker blue as I ordered a model kit paint pot of 'Diesel Blue' and was unable at the time to get a match.

I'm sure the new owner could do the bike much more justice. But, sadly this is one project too many for me at the moment - alongside the Other Clockwork, Mk1 golf, and road bike :oops:

The bike is set up as single speed but I will include some spare parts and a mavic geared rear wheel. (You will need shifters and cables to convert to a geared build.)

It is incredibly light , nimble and responsive to ride as an SS - It is close to the weight of my alu race bike!

There is some surface rust to nuts and bolts on components - some scrapes, scratches and touchups as to be expected of a loved a ridden machine. But, I used this little baby regularly over the last few years and always tried to give it a good going over with a light lube when I can. It's ready to ride as is but, I think it's deserved of a loving home where it can have time and effort invested into bringing it up to its former glory...... Paintwork tidied up, rusty bolts cleaned, clear coat and parts polished up, maybe some pace sus forks?! ......... I dunno that would have been my plans if I had more time.

Hi Gillie. I've never seen another that colour so wouldn't rule out it being resprayed at some point. The big thing with the aniversary ones was that they went back to the classic orange/white so would find it strange that they'd proto a colour they never then used? Still a nice bike though but you might have to lower your sights to generate interest as the market is quite flat atm. You should also offer postage to increase the interest.

The forks look like the Orange aluminium ones that became the F8 and were offered as an option so I think so could be original. That being said, I don't think I've seen a painted set.

Cheers Brocklanders. I'm not in a mad rush to get shot as it is a nice bike but, will try to find out a little more info on the paint if possible.

It did cross my mind that the bike had been resprayed but, with all decals and badges as they should be and the previous owner advertising it as a one off from the factory I guess I just took his word for it.... Could be nonsense but, it would be nice to find out for sure - so will carry on the research. Good info on the forks! And sound advice with price/postage. I will weigh up my options over the next couple of weeks and amend if necessary.

The decals look genuine as well. They're very thin and flush with the surface but still extremely tough.

I'm certain that's a factory paint job. They probably used an anniversary Clockwork as a test piece for their new powder coat and decals.

Oooh that Sub 5 is epic nodding dog! Nice bike indeed and yes, I have to say the paint shade looks identical. The decals and badgework do look untouched, and very flush on my Clockwork which is why i believed it was original. Will try to get more detailed pics up at the weekend if I get a chance.

Very nice...if only it had rack mounts.

I bumped in to a guy at Greenwich foot tunnel entrance a couple of weeks ago with a very similar one - saw you're in S London, so thought it might be the same (small world etc).

Does anyone know which year of P7/Clockwork has rack mounts?

Haha. Yes Ross, that was me. Nice to chat briefly in Greenwich - sorry I had to dash as I was typically late for work, I had an inkling you may be on this forum :cool: I have to make time and space for some work on my old old Clockwork, so this has to go sometime - will ride it until that point. I Hope the P7 project goes well mate!

I rarely go on retrobike these days, so it came as a great surprise to stumble across this!
I owned the bike approx 2004 - 2009 (for most of which I was overseas) - I sold it on ebay but presume that if you've only had it 4 years, that you didn't buy it from me?

Here are the details that I know/can remember about the bike;
I bought it from a staff member at Biketreks - a well known shop in Ambleside in the Lakes, he had sent the frame back to Orange for a professional respray (flip-flop diesel blue). The paint is pretty rare (not sure if prototype or not though) - I imagine you won't find another clockwork like it, and I don't think they offer the paint as an option any more. From memory the fork is an F8 - not sure if it was ever offered as an option, or if these are something more rare/prototype.

I remember it just as you say - extremely light and responsive.
In fact, I've always rather regretted selling it, so if you can offer a 'special retrobike ex owners price', and would be prepared to post to the Lakes, I would be very interested ; )

Would you be able to post any more pictures - particularly of any rust/re-touches?
