100mm fork advice wanted

Looking for a 100mm (+/- 10mm) modernish fork that I want to get custom painted to match my "modern" build (late 2000's deKerf)

Requirements Standard 1 1/8" steerer
Light/Med XC use only
Nice and Light but not weight weenie.

Leaning towards a Rock Shox SID Air of some description on the grounds of availability, but complete noob on anything that doesn't have elastomers in it.

Any thoughts or advice?

I'm assuming second hand as it seems poor value to repaint a new one.

Current fork on the bike is a Pace RC39 which I think I will struggle to repaint due to the Carbon lowers....

Im also assuming from a brief search that Orange isnt a standard colour from one of the Fork manufacturers? Otherwise I may avoid a repaint.

Bike I'm colour matching link below. See the Orange maple leaves. Basically want to invert the brown/orange maple leaf details on the fork.

Disc/v-brake? as that may make things easier/harder to find.

I'll only add what I have used which may or may not be usefull
Manitou R7, fork works really well but is a bit of a noodle, but is fairly light (can still get new at reasonable price)
RS Duke XC and Race, both great forks, nice action and fairly stiff (probably easily available 2nd hand)
Marzocchi Corsa SL (don't have in v-brake) but great fork, nice action, super stiff, fairly light. (only issue is top out clunk and lock out is a major hassle to set up)
RS Judy SL Air probably get some cheap becasue they are poop, flexy, but light with a crappy action.


But I cant see you going wrong with a Sid.

oh no idea, the only old forks i've used/owned are manitou 3's and EFC's. With short rides on RS mag's, judys and bombers. I've never even seena set of Pace forks
But my R7's are closest to my EFC's as in damping feel and low weight and low stiffness

SIDs are good forks, but rather noodly. Rockshox Rebas are worth a look

Im a big fan of the Fox RL 100mm.They made them with v brake mounts up to 2008.In terms of preformance,no other v brake fork will match it.

I'd be having a look at some DT Swiss forks (new version of the RC39's). I had some 2012 XMM's and they were the best fork I'd had up to my current Pikes. I'm a big fan of Fox but the DT's were better than my similar era Floats.

I never really got on with older Rockshox as I found the action a bit synthetic compared to DT or Fox, felt like you were sitting on a spring. Saying that, the current ones with the Charge damper are ace.

Back to the question.... The answer is DT Swiss.

How new are you looking to go? Disc only or do you need v brake bosses? Reba forks are very good IMHO and you can get them with v mounts. Sids are also great forks of course. Fox are up there but they require servicing much more frequently than any other fork I've had according to the recommended service interval.

I have a few modernish rebas kicking about if you go down that route, some fox as well. Quite fancy a pace fork actually so if you are interested in a trade when you've decided on what fork to go for, let me know as I may have something.

Have just picked up a pair of Judy's that whilst they were a bit older than ideal the outlay was minimal. Going to suck them and see then maybe get back to you.
