1" Aheadset - advice &/or stem needed

Tigerrider

Retro Newbie
I have a '96/'97 Orange P7 that has Girvin Suspension forks fitted. I wish to refit the original forks (1" unthreaded steerer) but no longer have a 1" Ahead stem.
I am on the lookout for a suitable silver coloured stem with a high degree of rise (maybe 20 deg.) to give a less racey position.

Alternatively could anyone advise on the suitability of adding a shim to a 1 +1/8th stem please?

stem

i'm fairly certain i have a 1" ahead stem from a orange bike.

give me half hour to get back with the news ;)

*edit*

found this below.

sort of thing you're after? 10 degree rise though- 140mm reach. other criteria matched.

assuming you are sticking with the same headset, it may be necessary trim steerer down a bit or add spacers to get the required 3mm or so gap needed between top of steerer and top of stem, to compress it all prior to tightening up the stem. or, it may just fit nicely.
one small graze to lower bit of front plate but otherwise pretty sound.

Marc,
Thanks for looking that stem out.
Can I come back to you when I've had chance to measure up & see what sort of riding position it'll give me; as I said I don't want to be too laid out!
