Other than having an additional part on the steerer I can’t really see any down side, but I’m sure someone wiser will have a better way to describe it.
I alway look at the hope page below as it seems to be make sense to me. You basically need what ever bottom cup/race/bearings that fit your frame and a 1-1/2 to 1-1/8 reducer hs136.
