I'd say £175 was a decent offer, I've seen them go for slightly more and slightly less. It's a nice frame but they aren't particularly rare. I've had a couple of very similar frames in similar condition and sold each for less than £175.

+1 Tons of tyres. "I'll use them again someday." I won't. Also loads of headsets, most of them cheap, crappy ones that I'll never use. And a big box of 1/8" chains.

Most shops will match prices you've seen elsewhere if the bike is like for like and the discount isn't ridiculous. It's a 2012 bike so they'll be as keen to get rid of it as every other shop. I'd just tell them you've seen it £500 cheaper elsewhere. Like I say, they'll probably just match it...

XT cassettes dig into alloy freehub bodies too. You've still sprockets that aren't on the spider. Another XT cassette user here, but other than a bit of weight and a nicer lockring, you're not going to notice any difference between XT and SLX. I don't buy the 'SRAM cassettes last longer'...

I've got Stans Crest on my 29er and they seem fine. That said, I haven't had them for long and I weigh bugger all. Having the wheels built by someone that knows what they're doing is key, you'll destroy any rim if it's been built badly.

Good spokes in general are getting expensive. Not £6 each, but still. You might struggle to find someone that will sell you 4 of the spokes you're after, shops have to buy them by the box and I don't think many would stock them unless they had been asked to build wheels with them - they...

Not exactly like that, no. The new ones have a slightly different lever. They're still available in gold and 34.9 though.

You're best off pulling the lowers off (or getting a shop to) and having a look at what you're dealing with before buying anything. I'm guessing they haven't been regularly serviced/maintained? I'd imagine the chances of them not being well and truly shagged beyond repair are pretty slim.

They've long done custom colours/ltd edition runs of their Taiwanese made stuff - it's only a case of a powdercoat, which they've got the facilities to do. I wouldn't be surprised if they charged you though.

To be honest, I'd imagine the Trek is much better quality. Orange's cheap stuff has been naff for years.
