Yup, it has a Sachs Torpedo (single speed, coaster brake) hub, which adds to the German flavour. I searched quite extensively for anything about it when I got it but largely drew a blank (the pressed from flat construction seemed pretty singular to me at the time, even the forks are just folded...

I suppose if I cock up tapping them I can go a size up and then have the choice of a M14 or 9/16 helicoil? ;-)

It's got Sugino Mighty's on it, with fabulous drillium rings, which was a big part of what turned me on to the bike in the first place. (but yes I could swap just the cranks I guess - thanks for the prod in to the lateral thinking domain!) And yes, I entirely see the point about not molesting...

Ahh cool, gotcha. Yeah I was kinda looking for something with a frame, so that makes sense. I've swapped out the Condor Campag ones (which presumably require a titanium tool, lubricated with kitten tears) for the Shimano shaped ones, and then I can do some 'block swapping' to see what works well...

Does such a thing exist? I see lots of 20mm - 9/16 type stuff (or 9/16 -9/16 extenders), but does anyone know where (or if) I can get something with male M14 / femle 9/16 so I can put some sensible pedals on my french thread cranks? (without having to tap them out etc)
