    Chemical Blacking

Haven’t had a go myself but have seen lots of views / threads on airgun forums. The executive summary is: 1) Don’t waste your time with cold bluing, it is rubbish. 2) Rust bluing gives slightly better results. 3) Follow the instructions to the absolute letter, otherwise you are doomed. 4) Get...

    Wheel building jig

No problem at all. Would be great if someone else built one. 1) Yes, the clamp bolts are recessed, but I think I also used brass (maybe delrin?) washers between the aluminium plates and the vertical arms to hold the plate slightly proud. 2) The brass tips are just speaker spikes, e.g...

    Wheel building jig

Hi, The aluminium plates were just purchased from eBay or metals4u or somewhere similar. Just search for "custom size aluminium plate" and you should get plenty of options. Some places will even drill the holes for you if you don't have a drill press. I'm fairly sure the brackets for the...

    Moulton Standard M1 1965 (finished)

Thank you very much! The colour is Reseda Green (RAL 6011). Looking now, the online colour charts seem quite different to the colour in the photos. The photos are an accurate representation of how it looks in real life though.

    Retrobike resolutions 2025?

Like most others I'm going to try and do more sitting on bikes than staring at bikes... 1) Finally finish off the Dave Russell I've been restoring for what seems like forever. 2) Bike pack through Tuscany... from Ancona > Rimini > Siena > Florence > Pisa. 3) Bike pack the Mercian Way. 4) Do a...

Dave Russell - Back to Blue

Ah yes, along with me making the same bad joke twice 🥸 In my defence, I haven't updated the thread (or done any work on the bike) for a while. Unbelievably busy at work. How is the relocation going... still Cebu?

Dave Russell - Back to Blue

You will be my first port of call should I ever attempt a land speed record 😂 Does it need a special front derailleur?

Dave Russell - Back to Blue

Do you reckon not original then? There is only room for a 27x1 tire in the front fork, whereas the rear will take something much bigger.

Dave Russell - Back to Blue

I’m currently trying to kid myself that this will fit me when it’s finished but it’s almost certainly too big 😢 It’s going to break my heart.

    "S-Works Tarmac SL6" (Chinese copy)

I've been tempted to give this a go and build up a super-lite road bike using a carbon copy frame. Have done pretty much zero research on it though. Great to know yours has lasted the test of time. I'm getting my project backlog down to something manageable at the moment, so it could become a...
