Re: I can certainly relate to the issue of the bars moving in the stem. After many a stripped thread we solved the problem by cutting a piece of aluminium from a tin can, opening up the stem with a screwdriver and sliding the aluminium between stem and bars.

No sorry definitely not a puch. Am quite sure it was a falcon scirocco although the ones I have seen on the net seem to be fairly well specced whereas this bike still seemed quite a basic Cottered crank, steel rimmed 5 speed but with slightly better quality components than were fitted to my own...

Hi. They are for a pair of cowhorn handlebars I have had made to fit a peugeot 10 speed racer which has a 25.4 mm stem. If I'd know the stem diameter beforehand I would have bought a raleigh or something similar. Have also heard stories about some peugeot stems breaking!
