Re: I got an original nickel plated P7 eventually and in quite good condition with Lx group. I replaced cables, shifters, brakes, pedals and grips. I also fitted some Road tyres to give her a run out around the block.....awesome and knocks spots off my Focus despite being about 20 years earlier!

Are Mavic SUP 217s really that rare? afterall they were always considered a decent and strong set of rims so I would have thought there would still be a lot of them that survived despite no longer being made. The Orange P7 I got off ebay for £85 still has the original SUP 217s and they seem in...

Sounds good....may get it done by a pro if it will only cost 40 quid....cost as much to buy the lacquer and I can't bake it on :)

Thanks Bill, Nice job.... I know that one of the biggest concerns is getting lacquer to stick to bare metal. The P7 has a plated and lacquered surface already so should hopefully not be an issue. I can see having to let it harden for weeks being more of a problem though as I will want to ride it.

Cheers mate..... I did look at the clear lacquer Halford have which prompted my question. I would like to try and get it looking fairly new again and obviously rusting wherever possible. I get the bike delivered to me tomorrow so will have a better idea of condition later this week.

I have just bought a nickel plated Orange P7 from eBay and I am expecting that when it arrives it will need some TLC as it is pretty old (mid nineties). Does anyone know where I can get the lacquer to re coat the frame and forks or anywhere that might offer this service? Cheers Dave

Yes I had one of the original nickel P7s many years ago.... I was young, slim and fit in those days but I have never ridden a bike since that fit me and I enjoyed riding as much since. I currently have a focus fat boy and before that I had a high spec Felt.... I have barely ridden either TBH due...

I know that the new frames are much heavier....when did this change? Was it the 2010 p7 that first moved away from series 8 and micro butting?

Looking for a completed P7 with the rigid F7 forks it must be a 19" frame and at least STX RC groupset. I used to have one so wanted to get nostalgic... I would prefer the nickel finish and good condition but will consider anything with the old lighter weight micro butted 8 series frame. I am in...

Re: I wish I had stumbled across this sooner..... I used to have the very same bike/model/group set and have never found anything like it. I bought a top end Felt and a Focus more recently and they have nothing on my old P7....nostalgia :)
