What to do with a dent?

I've stood my whole weight in the centre of the tube both before and after the repair. It hasnt budged at all. And what's wrong with weld filler? It's used on car panels all the time. I just needed to know if there was a particular reason not to on a steel bike which, if it's not heats...

What to do with a dent?

I've already started another thread with this question, but just in case anyone who's already helped me can answer - is 653 definitely not heat tempered? The tube has been repaired and I've had a friend offer to fill any small indents remaining with weld and then powdercoat it (including baking...

    Powdercoating a 653 frame?

So I have a 653 frame which I've just had repaired with very minor filler work by atlantic boulevard. I now need to look into painting it. I've had a good price quoted for powdercoating through a friend, which would require sandblasting first. The sandblasting would more than likely destroy...

    Raleigh 653 fork query

For anyone who might have issues in the future - the spanner method worked a treat!

    Raleigh 653 fork query

Okay thanks. I didn't want to use too much force only to later discover it was a part of the fork. Back to the shed!

    Raleigh 653 fork query

Just a quick one I'm hoping someone can help me with. I've just been stripping a 653 frame down, and can't seem to get a piece of the headset off the fork. It won't budge at all. So I'm wondering if it's a part of the fork? Or just a really stuck piece of the headset?

    Advice for a complete novice

Next bit of advice needed! I've had a quote for completing a repair of the tube rather than replace it, so I'll probably be going down that route with my next paycheck. I'm also comfortable with what I'm looking for in terms of a groupset now as well. But my question surrounds the fork and...

    Shimano 105 5600/Dura Ace groupset

For sale I have a full Shimano groupset. All the items are used, and so bear some signs of wear including some slight scratches, but overall in good condition and have all been well-maintained so are in perfect working order. The items are mostly from the 105 5600 range, with the exception...

    Advice for a complete novice

I'm assuming it sold on ebay. I've picked up another Townsend exactly the same that I might be selling, but it's 22.5" roughly so might be too big?

What to do with a dent?

That's interesting. I might see what I can do with it first before looking at replacing it then.

What to do with a dent?

None whatsoever, but what I meant was is there a way of sorting it without changing the tube?

What to do with a dent?

Yes that's definitely what I want; something to occupy my time and I knew I wanted to buy something with a bit of work on it. But I'm just leaving a life as a student so at the moment money is a bit tight. I might wait a few months of working and then invest in a new top tube. Does no one...

Is it worth it for this kind of frame?

What to do with a dent?

No I just spotted a poorly described frame with Reynolds stickers on ebay and thought I'd risk it. I've been looking for a frame to restore myself and fit a nice groupset to as an introduction to cycling.

What to do with a dent?

The tube is straight as far as I'n able to tell, althogh the slight ridge next to the dent makes it difficult as the piece of wood I'm using wont rest flat against the tune exactly where the dent is. I'm going to be respraying it myself anyway, so that's not an issue if it comes to repair. But...

What to do with a dent?

I bought a poorly described frame on ebay on a punt, and after some research I've identified it as a Raleigh 653 Race which I'm quite happy about. It does need a serious amount of work though, including seat post removal, and a nasty dent on the top tube. I'm sure I can get the seat post out...

    Advice for a complete novice

Here are some photos I've taken: I'm hoping no one says "It's f****d, dump it". I'd appreciate some advice on the best way of repairing it. I'm going to assume that filling over it is not an option? Should I start a new thread for more advice?

    Advice for a complete novice

I took a punt on a frame on ebay. It was poorly described, but after doing some research I've found it to be a Raleigh 653 Race, as found here viewtopic.php?f=23&t=249768&start=10 It certainly needs some work. The seat tube is stuck, which I'm sure I could sort given enough time, but what...
