    Been Bag Cycle Clothing Ltd

Loved Been Bag. I was with Houghton CC and our club kit was from there. In 1981 I was organiser of the Cathederal City Road Race in Durham, a course try-out ahead of the National Junior Road Race and Been Bag kindly put up a custom made skin suit as one of the prizes. Happy days of riding around...

    EZ-Fire front cable pull

I’ve just replaced a pair of Deore 3x7 ST-M071 STI shifter/ brakes with a pair of EZ-Fire 3x7 ST-EF51. The rear derailleur shifts fine, as it did before, but the front derailleur, a Exage 300LX bottom pull seems to shift too far for each lever click. It’s almost as though it is shifting half as...

Wanted Deore DX ST-M071 left hand shifter pod required

In the absence of anyone having a full Deore DX shifter pod for sale, would anyone happen to have the central pivot for one sitting in a parts box doing nothing? This one has split in half on the top ’cross’ part that is used to bolt it to the STI unit. Happy to buy a non working left hand...

Wanted Deore DX ST-M071 left hand shifter pod required

Looking for a working triple chainset front shifter ‘pod‘ only to replace a broken one on a ST-M071 Deore DX STI unit if anyone has one? Will be putting it on a bike that will only sell for about £100 so not looking to spend too much - just needs to work. Thanks!

SOLD: Campagnolo/MKS pedal dust cap tools

Re: I just had one of these delivered (bought via eBay before I saw this ad) - it's a really nicely made tool, thick laser cut stainless steel. Fits the dustcap and locknut perfectly on Campag pedals. I sold my original Campag spanner a few years ago when I thought I'd never need it again -...

Re: PM sent. (And apologies for asking the threading - I need to pay more attention!)

Mavic GP4 32 hole rim OR Campagnolo Record 28 hole front hub

I don't need both, just one or the other. Preference for the rim is to have little or no break surface wear, but as long as it's in good condition I'll consider it. Needs to be the original red label version. Hub needs to be the classic 70's 80's version with the oil hole cover and quick...

7 speed freewheel with 126mm rear spacing

Brilliant - thanks to both for your help. I think I'll go 7 speed!

7 speed freewheel with 126mm rear spacing

Can anyone advise if a 7 speed Regina Extra freewheel will work with on a Campag Super Record hub 126mm across the lock nuts? It will be used with a 1983 Super Record rear mech, all fitted to an Alan Super Record frame. Would that set up have been available pre 1985, or should I really be...

Cinelli 1A and 1R in black

Does anyone know approximately what year Cinelli started doing the 1A and 1R stems in the black finish? The black versions seem to be a bit more readily available as NOS than the silver ones, but I'm keen for something that is 1984 or earlier. Can't see any reference on Velobase. Thanks!

Alan frame, under sized headset solution?

Sorted - Britvic tonic water can to the rescue. Glued the 'shim' to the headset races with the thinnest smear of Araldite and pressed them home before it set, with Loctite between the shim/races and head tube. Just enough of an interference fit to be solid but not too much resistance that...

Alan frame, under sized headset solution?

That's great - thanks very much. I'd searched for aluminium shims but hadn't even thought about brass. The various thicknesses will give me more options. Much appreciated.

Alan frame, under sized headset solution?

That's pretty much exactly how I plan on proceeding. I'm going to sample several different canned beers tonight to check the 'shim' thickness. I've used the 'one hot, one cold' technique on a fork crown race before - works a treat! Thanks for your help.

Alan frame, under sized headset solution?

Hadn't thought of Loctite. Thanks for that. I'll probably try dry fitting with a shim at the weekend just to get a feel for what I need to do. I'm very conscious of putting too much in the gap, pressing the cups in and ending up splitting the lugs. As for size, it's just a standard Campag...

Alan frame, under sized headset solution?

I'm in the process of my first retro build, a 1980 Alan Super Record. I just received a used (but VGC) Campag Record headset and was surprised to find the races drop straight into the head tube with about 1/4mm of play Feeling inside the head tube there is a ridge about 25mm in at both ends...
