    Moulden Frame

Re: That is awesome info!! So cool you could influence such a lovely frame. Sadly..... it isn't going to make the cut for me. I have a "if it don't fit" rule that I established years ago when I was ending up with far too many pretty things that sat and did only that..... if anyone needs a...

    Removing smoothed bolt from shifter

Re: I would have to respectfully disagree about easy outs..... if you buy good ones they are amazing. I use them for wayyyyy more stubborn automotive purposes with excellent success.....

    Moulden Frame

Hahah, awesome!!! The paint on the one I have definitely needs to be redone. It is not very quality paint to begin with and then add some sitting around the previous owners place for several years and you can see the impact. I love the seat tube on it though. Nice to know how few of these...

    Moulden Frame

Re: Moulden That is gorgeous!!! And thank you for the additional info. Didn't realize he was making frames that late into the 90s.

    Moulden Frame

Here are some pics of the one I have. Really a very interesting frame with tons of unique features to it. Bushpig, any additional information you have I would be interested in knowing. That is really cool that you worked there. Amazing the experiences some of you folks have had in the...

    Moulden Frame

Stumbled on this Moulden fillet brazed frame. I think the original builder was Jim Moulden if what I have read is correct. What do folks know about this frame? I will get some pictures posted soon but wondering if folks had any detail on the builder. Sounds like he was a BC old schooler and...

    Clark Kent Ti F14 1995

Very pretty bike. Just make sure and take something else out if you want to ride it hard. Too few left since so many broke.....

Girvin Flexstem - Some advice needed please

Don't put a Girvin on it at all..... you already have a suspension fork on it.

    M95* bb bearing details

Re: Surprisingly I have found several of the dura ace ones over the years pretty cheap as there just didn't seem to be a lot of love for that era dura ace You are correct that the only difference is the spindle length. Normal double was 109.5 compared to 112.5 and 116 for xtr 950. Bearings...

    M95* bb bearing details

One piece that a lot of people forget too, Durace shared this same design during the time. You can find a 109.5 Durace as well out there if you need one that is in good condition. A steel frame may very well be able to use the durace as it is or alternatively you can swap the axle from the 950...

What are the Best QR Skewers and why?

Re: Campy made a couple mountain bike groupos. I am sure the lever action feels very nice but they looked kind of chunky to me. If you look for record, make sure you buy ones that will fit whatever mtb rear wheel spacing you are needing. Would suck to buy a set and then realize they are 126...

What are the Best QR Skewers and why?

Sorry, when used as a bearing press? Are you installing cartridge bearings into hubs using a quick release versus using an actual press or even a socket and hammer approach?

Shimano deore xt 7 speed m732 free hubs

Buy another off ebay, they are cheap. If that doesn't work then use the freehub from a DX or LX level as a replacement. I have seen a few NOS XT replacements too but it is cheaper to just buy whole hubs.

What are the Best QR Skewers and why?

Re: Re: Amen!!! I would also add in M900. Best clamping force and feel of any skewer is XTR in my view.

Bought a 25.4mm shaft stem by mistake, what does it fit?

Could make someone a nice dirt drop stem. Still quite a few 1 1/8" threaded bike kicking around..... early 90s paramounts, rockies, etc.....

Sorting a frame if too small seat post been used?

27.2 is one of if not the most common size post used in high quality steel MTB frames. My Reparto Corse Martini Racing Bianchi, Bridgestone MB1s, Waterford 1400/2400, etc all run 27.2 posts. I also have a Indy Fab deluxe that has some damage done to it and IF bonded a custom fiberglass shim in...

Rear dérailleur hanger - how bent is too bent?

That is the reason I only run thumbies. :) Friction mode manages something like that marvelously....

I'm overweight!! Where are all the Light+Cheap MTBs

I would agree totally with Hamster. You can get too light with some them and it will just not last. Great frames I would look for would be Bridgestones, Bianchis, Stumpjumpers, Rockies, etc. That 970 Trek you note would also be nice but they use pretty huge tubes so I don't find the ride...

Rear dérailleur hanger - how bent is too bent?

Back in the day on my MB1, I got a stick stuck in my derailleur and mangled my hanger. I was absolutely heart broken. Poor college student..... my most prized possession mangled..... the hanger at a 90 degree angle to where it should be..... the threads an oval. I took it to my local shop...
