who is who on here - forum name and real name thread

Well I'm Altronix, real name is Altronix. Yep for real, it's on my passport and everything. Usually Altron for short, or some folk call me Mr Tronix for fun. I sometimes joke that I'm a missing character from the Asterix comics. So I ended up drawing me as the character a while ago.

Nice story in in my local paper at the weekend:

Good point about the kid not fitting in with down the parks. I guess it's an era he never knew, so might not appreciate it for what it is.

    Bike cycles page on Facebook

Yep that'll be me with the Bike Cycles page. I've found too many pages on FB are only for one type of bike or style, or the folk there are just a bit too snobby and clicky. I wanted more fun and interesting stuff, rather than serious tech talk. So the page includes everything from the...

    Which wheels, 700c or 650c

Problem sorted. A friend of mine has just helped out by striping his girlfriends racer with a 650c setup, so I could try it for size on mine. [good friend, very understanding girlfriend] I will be going with 700's after all. The 650's in a 60cm frame did look a bit strange.

Nice story in in my local paper at the weekend:

I don't know how much the shop buys in bikes at cost, or then how much they add for profit. But I'd say the kid didn't get a great deal at all. I'd have personally kept it just for the reason that it was my dads bike when he was a kid. I prefer the family heirloom angle on these sort of things.

Hi peeps, new to the site, here's my Ishibashi

Interesting story how I actually got hold of this bike. I was working in London as a kid on a building site. The office and restroom area was a temporary setup in the buildings basement carpark. At the time I was riding around on a pretty basic Marin road bike I'd adopted for nothing of a...

Hi peeps, new to the site, here's my Ishibashi

This version of the Burner is the same as mine for sure. All the small detail is right: the dropouts, tubular bracket for the rear brake, the seat stays, and the oval tube. http://bmxsociety.com/topic/51319-19858 ... r-koizumi/

Hi peeps, new to the site, here's my Ishibashi

Yep both tubes are the same, flat oval. Are you meaning the mk2 Raleigh Burner? Similar but a few differences there. I can do more photo's, any bits in particular? Alt.

    Dawes Fixie

Years ago I was cutting about an unlit empty back street in London. The bike had no lights and no reflectors at the time. I'd been working that day filming in a tv studio and was wearing all black. Out of nowhere a cop car comes up behind me and gives it one flash with his blue lights. I...

What a result after stripping the paint work, it's so much nicer.

    My Raleigh Medale project.

Thanks guys. The light was one of those things I just picked up over 20 years ago as a kid and hoarded. I'm like a magpie with shiney chrome. Getting the bracket right was tricky and took several versions before I nailed it. I was really trying to make it look like it had be purpose made...

Hi peeps, new to the site, here's my Ishibashi

No not at all now. I had been wrongly informed on one of the other BMX forums that the baseball logo was Ishibashi. But now Bendycat has put things straight, and it is definitely a Koizumi frame. Which is absolutely fine by me, top quality craftsmanship :)

Hi peeps, new to the site, here's my Ishibashi

Brilliant, Koizumi it is then. Really hope these extra shots are what you need. I'm now getting a wee bit excited that you might nail it once and for all as to what it is. Altron.

    Which wheels, 700c or 650c

Hi folks, I have a project I'm currently building [see link at the bottom], I'm using a 60cm racer frame. I need to get new wheels and forks for it, so I'm considering the sizes and combinations that are available. I was thinking of getting 650c wheels to help shrink the large frame size a...

Hi peeps, new to the site, here's my Ishibashi

Hmm, I had been told the baseball symbol was the Ishibashi logo. But I have seen a few Ishibashi serials and they didn't have any letters involved. So I'm happy to believe it could be Koizumi if you know your logos. I see what you mean about the forks probably being a replacement. The...

    My Raleigh Medale project.

This is an old Raleigh Medale. It's been stored in a barn for the last 15 years, and wasn't in good nick when it got put there believe me. I'm a big fan of recycling bikes, there's not much that can't be fixed or replaced. This is also a handy excuse cos i'm on the dole and totally skint at...

Hi peeps, new to the site, here's my Ishibashi

New to the site and thought I'd say hi, and have a wee show and tell. Here's my dear old friend, had her for over 16+ years. She's definitely showing her age these days. Trouble is when I get on, I can't help but ride it like I stole it. She eats rush hour traffic and city streets. Got a...
