Yes, put some Deore LX V brakes on my '92 Stumpy Comp about 10 years ago. They worked fine, but took them off earlier this year to go back to original cantis.

My first bout of upgraditis was a 2nd hand Deore XT short arm rear mech for my Deore equipped Stumpy. The current XT at the time had the "XT" in gold, so I got some gold paint and upgraded it!
