    The Health and Nutrition Thread

Interested to read more on this. I eat fairly healthily, pretty fit, and in terms of size / weight I am a bean-pole. However, as per one of the comments above, I've never really sussed out why I will sometimes feel very weak early in a ride (even after a porridge-y, banana-y breakfast) whereas...

I'm really enjoying this bike. Giving it some beans down a field earlier, got a feel for the handling. It just feels really light, but planted and controlled in jumping. Always hard to convey in words, but I think it's great, probably the best handling frame I've had to be honest. Joe

Short, but punchy little ride locally. As always, well worth getting out.

    Today's Ride

Nice day for a little picnic. Only about 2 miles all in, up a hill for a view, and down again. Saw my first swallow of the year.

    2 x Raleigh Summits - £50 for both

I know, not very exotic. And not totally original (see bars / stem). BUT some nice DX bits. And probably quite good touring bikes nowadays. And effectively £25 each. https://www.facebook.com/share/14fxyy8YMt/

Just picked up this Univega Alpine 5.7 (bike packing base)

Very nice, and loads of stem options. Shorter, high-rise, swan neck etc etc. Just got to work out what you need and get searching. Look forward to progress!

First ride of this today. Feels great. Just some minor adjustments to the controls (rotate to suit my grip) and a little tweak of the back brake required. Only a short 6 mile local route after work . Joe

    Short rear MTB mudguard recommendations?

I run an "original" mudhugger on one of my mtb's, but I fear it's disk only. Quite like that Ass-saver Win Wing, might look into one of those.

    '92 Explosif - Modified. Unpure.

I'd be sticking with the condor for sure, especially if it's essentially a like-for-like in terms of a-c length. I ran some triple butted P2's on a Lava Dome, and they were very comfy indeed. But I can't see the Condor forks being any less flex-y or compliant.

^^^^^ feel your pain. I'm getting a friends mtb roadworthy at the moment. What was meant to be a couple of days has turned to weeks as it fights me at every turn. I've bought 2 incorrect headsets for it before finding the right one, and buying brake pads before realising that the brake is...

    Anti-theft parts bin sh*tter.

The front flap is a good shout. I made one out of a detergent bottle on my old commuter, and it significantly diminished the style of what wasn't a bad looking bike.
