    Short rear MTB mudguard recommendations?

Top tip for anyone interested in the Asssaver, that uses the saddle rails, don't be tempted by the copies that ebay is full of , that cost peanuts. They typically have a bike shop name on them, or something goofy, with promises of recyclability etc. They look pretty much like the short and...

Imlach's Sweaty Hippie Funk Collection, adventure bikes, rusty rats, cruisers and other alt bastardisations of bicyclery

This is a triathlon bike and they can do pretty much what they like with frames. I will take a guess that the step through thing is there for saving a bit of time getting on/off as the bike section is in the middle of the event. Also; i will take another guess that maybe, possibly, there is a...

    Today's Ride

That church is handy for 2 reasons. 1 if you feel the need to pray and the other is there is an outside tap which, if memory serves correctly, is to the right of the door in your pic. I have seen locals filling up water bottle there and guzzling away, but maybe it is just water for washing...

what to go for, touring or hybrid

Some classic tiuring steel is a great choice BUT there are lots of very good aluminium hybrid frames , built by makers like Kinesis for example, that are hiding in bike shaped objects, around the country. Sitting in garages after about 50miles useage, and dead cheap ,because cycling takes...

Help to identify a Tierney CX Frame

With mudguard eyes and bottle bosses it is more touring than cx which might help getting info off the internet.

    Anti-theft parts bin sh*tter.

True commitment to the project is going to be some gravel rash. You have put this much effort in to this you now have to bin it on a right hander to get that genuine look to the mech, pedal, grip and the end of the brake lever. That or just get a rasp file and do your best over a cup of coffee.

    Anti-theft parts bin sh*tter.

Slightly concerned you have trimmed the cable inners. At leat one or two should be full length and have a load of loops at the end. Being a commuter it definitely needs a front flap. How about the classic made out of a 2liter milk bottle? or an L plate?. The rear can have one too but that needs...

    Peugeot Comete Sprint

Welcome to RB and the Peugeot looks tidy. This will be of interest to some people here. There is usually someone who will remember the shop or have bought stuff there. Sometimes someone will have a shopfront photo which is always cool to see. If you are comfortable sharing details; please...

Gaffer Tape, Baler Twine, your tools that aren't tools?

Modern toothpaste tubes . Cut the ends off and split down the middle. This makes a flexible strong sheet that can be used inside a split tyre to stop the tube coming out. Can be used at a decent pressure, too. Plastic money notes may also work, but haven't tried them.

    Anti-theft parts bin sh*tter.

I think it needs odd rims. A cheapo aluminium deep aero rim maybe?. Definitely needs a sticker of some sort.
