    How usable are vintage parts?

The old brake calipers doen't work as the new ones do, but I wouldn't worry too much about them breaking. In my experience parts break mostly from manufacturing defects. And that can happen just as well on new parts as on old parts.

    Tommasini Tecno

Here is a Tommasini Tecno bike I built for my last girlfriend. I actually finished it after it was over so I put downtube shifters on it. I knew it wouldn't get much maintenance and certainly not any changing of shifter cables. My experience tells me you can shift DT shifters many moons after...

Do you still use your retrobike for its original purpose?

Yes. I still race my 1993 Daccordi SLX. Haven't won any races recently but that is more a rider issue than a bike issue.

Heart rate monitor without chest-strap ?

I am looking for a heartrate monitor with a different solution than the polar chest-strap. They are very uncomfortable to wear for me, even if I keep them as slack as possible. The finger-touch watches are out as I want the same functionality as the chest-strap type. Glue-on pads would be...

    EBAY : DeRosa goodness

The first one is way overpriced. It won't sell at that price. Colnagos in that price range don't sell either.

Cycling shorts without the too-long legs ?

I have been on the lookout for a new pair (or 3 really) of cycling shorts. There are three things I want from them: 1. Not too long legs (Pearl Izumi is a very bad example here)(middle of thigh is good). 2. No BIB-shorts. 3. Not a diaper-sized chamois... I have sportful from the 90s...

1990 Marin Team Titanium - updated 5th June page 3

I would seriously reconsider those rims if you plan on using the bike. The sidewall is thin, the spokes will pull thru.. etc..

Klein .... am I missing something?

People ask why the Kleins are so expensive and the answer , when they were new is this: Gary and his companion was trying to make a living out of the bikes but they couldn't. Then a great idea comes to one of them. Can't remember who, but the ideas was: Double the prices. And double the prices...
