98+ BoTM Bike of The Month January 2025 - Now taking entries

That Rocky above is a thing of beauty, lovely colours. Submitting just to get the numbers up, hopefully no telling off for having different tyres 🤫 @db95's 2009 On One Inbred https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/09-on-one-inbred.489280/

    09 On One Inbred

Throwing up a retrospective build log as is required for BOTM entries. Some short context beforehand; got back into cycling around August time after a family member mentioned they had a spare bike, enjoyed it but alas the bike was way too small for me so I ended up grabbing an 08/09 Kona Blast...

    Today's Ride

Had planned to cycle to Hownsgill Viaduct and back today which would be a bit over 100km round trip, however lastnight I ended up going and running a 5k out of pure spite which did a bit of a number on my legs having not really ran since school PE lessons so bottled it 😂 Just kept it localish...

    Today's Ride

Good shout, cheers. Had been trying to keep it tan wall but at this point I just want something that's a jack of all trades (or terrain) and master of none as opposed to being really good/apt at one specific thing then having to walk others 😂 Least with the BB's I could make it through the...

    Today's Ride

Love is an understatement, half debating trying to pick up another one for single speed purposes but I'd be better off finishing this one first 😂 Got out again today, decided to give the Paselas another shot. Had originally bought them with the idea that most of my current routes (or atleast...

    Wanted On-One bits

Looking for some On One bits to finish off my Inbred, used to be readily available but I guess they switched to Selcof branding for their in house stuff a good few years back. 29.8/30mm seatclamp (qr or bolt not particularly fussed), qr skewers (mtb 100/130 spacing), top cap and if possible one...

    Today's Ride

Due to festive period and a run of bad weather took up until today to have my first proper ride of the year. 48km and 475m of elevation at a brisk 2c with some slight breeze. Had been fiddling with the seat position prior to setting off and hadn't noticed I'd forgotten to secure the saddle bag...

Withdrawn Small Shimano Deore 9 speed parts for other Deore or LX 9 speed parts and a few fittings

Not V8s but I have some of the V6's (all nylon) in green which if they fit the bill/colour scheme I'd be happy to go post for nothing given the theft circumstances. Bit of a gaudy colour but might tide you over till you can get something proper :)

    Today's Ride

Yeah, seems I did more damage than originally thought - had kind of assumed just the cage had bent but the day after that post woke up to a flat, sorted it then went out and had some terrible shifting. Thought maybe I hadn't clamped the QR enough so had a fiddle with it and noticed the cassette...

    Today's Ride

Very quick 15km, would've perhaps been longer but 1) my front light went missing and 2) I forgot that BBC only seem to show wind breeze and not gusts which ended up being around the 40mph mark. Basically just to a local park, loop around then back up the hill. First pic going and the second...

    Tech Support?

Without being hands on it's hard to say but given the force/manipulation mentioned and the fact it's propagated to other keys I'd be inclined to say the PCB itself is failing, perhaps even just from old age - in most cases you have the keycap, a hinge/switch and a rubber/silicone dome which when...

Risk ... the aims of mountain biking, the purpose, the vibe ...

Not too far from the truth, for a brief period of time I can remember the Kona Stinky basically being a badge of honour/the first "proper" bike people would buy when they got their first apprenticeship, job, etc - must've seen the same handful of early/mid 2000s models change hands 20+ times...

    GT AGGRESSOR XC3 Year?

Could be wrong and maybe some GT expert can chime in but I'm pretty sure it's 08/09, a friend of mine pulled his out of retirement not long back to join me on a ride a couple times and I spent a quick ten minutes looking it up back then, iirc pretty basic Alivio drivetrains, hydraulic brakes...

    Today's Ride

With the weather being the way it is and daylight being at a premium it was definitely a "less photos more pedalling" type of day. Ended up doing 105.14km with 836m of elevation which is my furthest yet. Not all good times though as a badly timed brake pull just before hitting a bump lead to...

    Today's Ride

Yeah pretty much all of my flats have been from those, never rode this far into the winter season so was pretty unaware of that massive tractor attachment they use to trim the brambles/foliage/etc that spew the thorns everywhere - even had a slow puncture this morning that I found to again be...

    Today's Ride

Obligatory "this was yesterday" disclaimer 😂 41.3km, 411m elevation. Last few outings have been far too muddy and slippy for my liking, was half debating going for the Smoke/Dart combo but the overly muddy bridleways make up such a small amount of my routes (they're usually the quickest way...

    Today's Ride

Nice to get out after a weekend full of flats 😅 44.5km and 448m elev.
