    New wheel clarification

Another basic question, as I am confusing myself :D I have a 1988 Peugeot racer. I bought a new freewheel for it, but in the process of attaching it I realised the back wheel is pretty screwed up - so i'd like to just replace the whole wheel. All the rear wheels I have looked at say they can...

Freewheel for 1988 Peugeot Racer to replace 14-24

Thanks for the advice. As suggested i bought a cheap 6 speed Shimano. As much as i'd love to buy expensive components for the bike, its meant as something fun and cheap for me to mess about with. Although I do keep an eye on ebay for a set of 105s :D Thanks all.

Freewheel for 1988 Peugeot Racer to replace 14-24

Thanks guys. I've seen a Sunrace 13-28 that I might go for. It's a 7 speed, but from what I've read this will fit on my 6 speed hub. I gave up on being authentic with the bike - it's started as a cheap bike, but I ended up spending quite a bit. It's at the point where if I spend too much...

Freewheel for 1988 Peugeot Racer to replace 14-24

I've got a 1988 Peugeot Racer It's a nice bike, but I've always found that it never has a low enough gear for long steep hills. Looking at a copy of the original brochure, this bike has a 14-24 freewheel and a 42,52 crankset. Which should I change to make things a little easier, the...

Another Peugeot restoration/fix-up (1988 HLE Premiere)

Yeah I think its meant to be a MTB/Hybrid one. I realized after ordering it. However I then did some reading and the consensus was that they are all pretty much the same, so I stuck with it. Replace chain and cables, or get a smaller derailleur? edit...

Another Peugeot restoration/fix-up (1988 HLE Premiere)

New Derailleur So the cheap new derailleur arrived, and now I have to agree with grilla - this looks cheap and nasty :D But the more obvious issue is that this derailleur is much longer than the last one, and is further away from the cable. I can see the following problems: 1. The...

Another Peugeot restoration/fix-up (1988 HLE Premiere)

I thought that may be the case! I guess the first priority was to get the bike in working order. When more funds are available I'll look into getting some more appropriate components!

It seems the resizing program I used put nice "X" marks across the pics. I'll upload some better, and some larger ones later on!

Another Peugeot restoration/fix-up (1988 HLE Premiere)

Long time lurker, thought I'd finally get around to posting some photos of my recent restoration of what I believe is a 1988 Peugeot HLE Premier. The frame simply says 'Premiere' but another badge says HLE, and I know it was bought in 1988 - so looking in the old Peugeot brochure I decided the...
