English BB thread, the bars might have the size printed on them somewhere, maybe under the stem clamp at the centre. If you're going to replace the stem then maybe replace the bars too?

It's a Giant OCR from around 1999/2000. The OCR had a teardrop aero profile down tube whereas the TCR had a round profile. 1 inch threaded forks with possibly carbon blades bonded to an alloy crown. Giant branded quill stem with possibly Cinelli bars so could the bars could be standard...

It's not a Colnago. It looks like just a cheap Far East built aluminium frame with some Colnago decals from ebay and a bottom of the range Shimano Exage group set so nothing of any great value.

Chainset is a Shimano Ultegra 6500 9 speed. Guess it came without the self extracting crank bolts? Bottom bracket is a Shimano Octalink version so the Park Tool BBT 32 will fit.

It's a 27.2mm seat post on my Giant Cadex and not had a problem with it slipping.

So two crown races on top of each other? One for what was the original sealed bearing headset and the rusty one for the caged ball bearings?

Thanks for the reply. Looking at some videos on YouTube they're always saying to remove all the old paint as it could affect the new paint (colour bleeding through), so not always the case?

Did you sand back completely to bare metal or were there places you left the original paint on? Just wondering how you managed to sand around the cable guide fittings and around the tube joints/welds as I've always found that fiddly and time consuming.

Bit late to the party here but wondered if these photos might be of some use. Taken from the 2008 Windwave catalogue (FSA distributor), and shows the SLK Carbon Triple MegaExo chainset and the corresponding bottom bracket as the BB-8000. I'm guessing this is the triple chainset you have?
