    Manitou mountain bike

It really depends... What frame is it? Is it an original Doug Bradbury Manitou? Then it's worth a lot of money (there's one on e-bay now for around 5000$) If it's a later Answer Manitou, then not so rare, but still very nice bikes (if it's crack free, look especially around the head-tube)...

    Octalink V1 Fitting

This is a very interesting thread as I've had the same problem with a set of NOS Sibex Titanium cranks which I acquired a little while ago. The BB axle interface is Octalink V1 by all accounts, however the spline engagement is about 1mm before they bottom out without applying extra force. I have...

    Refurbishing M900 Cranks

What Martin just said... as far as restoring original finish. I did sand and polish a set of M900 cranks not too long ago. An had them clear anodized afterwards. The interesting part is: when you polish the to a super high sheen they look more like chromed, but after the clear anodizing they get...

Let's build a Ritchey p23: what diameter seatpost do I need?

27.0 at least that's what goes on my P23. I guess one could brutishly shove a 27.2 in there but I wouldn't recommend it. Let's hope for you that the seat-tube on yours wasn't too brutalized. In a pinch one can try to carefully ream the seat-tube to 27.2 in case the 27.0 seat-post is too loose in...

What is your favorite way to load pictures?

Download the pics from the phone (mostly phone, seldom camera). Open them up in Photoshop, adjust levels, maybe crop the image, then re-size the image to about 1200 x 1000 pixels and save it as a Jpeg with a medium quality level (around 6) and hope for the best. Then try to upload the image to...

    Ritchey P-23

Thanks! I always wanted a Ritchey and when one popped up a couple of years ago in roughly my size I went and submitted a low-baller offer to the seller on E-bay and to my amazement he accepted it. And now I have a Ritchey...

    Ritchey P-23

I finished this one a couple of weeks ago but never found the time to post the pics. From what I could gather this is a '94 P-23 since it's fully TIG-ed (only the upper seat-tube junction is fillet brazed) and based on the serial number a former Ritchey worker identified it as a '94 model year...

Sweetwings crankset, xtr chainrings and bottombracket.

Could you do me a quick favor and measure the dimensions of the aluminum tube piece that sits between the BB bearings? I have a set of those cranks and I'm missing that part. If I have the dimensions (length, diameter) I could easily make my own. Thank you and good luck with the sale!

I have bought stuff from them as well. Most of their stuff is average priced but sometimes you'll find some great bargains on some rare parts.

    Manitou Pin Removal Tool

I guess you can cobble together your own version if you're somewhat handy. A piece of long threaded rod (M8 or M10 would do fine), one can do away with the fancy handles and just use two nuts at each end with two wrenches instead, a piece of thick walled PVC pipe for the shell, the only tricky...

Girvin Linkage Fork - A good match for a GT LTS ?

Re: "The nuke proof reactor back in 97 had these forks, their team rider quit because he said it was dangerous and refused to ride it" Actually the Nuke Proof reactor forks are custom made specifically for the frame (giant steering tube where the shock sits in) so whilst they're linkage forks...

    REVOLUTION IN CARBON FIBRE

"I wonder how this company makes this carbon?" The visible layer is not carbon fiber but Texalium (a glass fiber derivative that's vapor coated with aluminum for a whitish-silvery look) then they use a color tinted clear-coat. The color change in the video was quite impressive. Utterly pointless...

Help needed, mavic zap bb chamfer

There is a specialty Mavic tool for that chamfer (it's 45 degrees per side) that looks like a BB facing tool but with the 45 taper instead of being straight. Those tools are rather rare and any modern bike shop won't have them. Try your luck with a shop that does work on old school bikes. I had...

    Doug Bradbury Manitou

6'4" In theory with the 24" top tube old school geometry it would fit me, but the missus would murder me if I got another bike... The flesh is willing but the pocket is weak.
