    1993 Kona Hot

If you are going for the yellow and white decals on the fork then the grey stem with yellow and white decals is another option and might match. Right year too possibly? And yes, the early black stems are heavy old things.

I've just noticed that some of the Bizango frames on here have a braze-on on the back of the seat tube for a top pull mech - Robrouleaux's bike on p1 for instance. Others don't. Like mine. Everything else looks the same. Does anyone know more? I read that the frames were originally welded...

I kind of like the MX bars, but not the stem. Could you shim the bars and use a MTB stem?

    1993 Kona Hot

By 1993 Konas were measured from centre of bottom bracket to top of seat tube, which would make that an 18". I think I am right in saying that earlier ones were measured from the top of bottom bracket shell to top of seat tube.

Frame on that Mountain Goat is fabulous. It might get my vote but it's not an easy choice.

    Clear coating advice!

Well I am less grumpy. But woefully ignorant. However there's some info here: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/decals-before-lacquer-or-tother-way-round.230486/page-2 Post some pics of the frame : )

That Muddy Fox isn't just making up the numbers. Love it. And well done rescuing the original paint. Better than covering everything in powdercoat.

Skeeter 1 's 1993 Kona Cindercone build thread.

The grey 1996 Velocity stem had no hanger. I tried one on my own '93 Cinder Cone but it looked naff. Colour looked bad and they lack the elegant taper of the earlier stems. There's a pic of one here...

    Lower your nose?

The only Brooks saddle I ever had was in good nick. I kind of liked the look tbh, but it made my bits go numb after 5 miles whatever way I angled it. Sold. My usable saddles are set flat or very, very slightly nose down if bars much lower than seat. Obviously saddle set up is a personal...

97 Kona - replacing suspension fork with rigid

That is an exceptionally well spent $75. Buy yourself a beer. Or three. I'd be looking for a 410 Kona P2 fork. In triple butted form. Light, good to look at and they do soak up some bumps.
