Show me your roller cams, U brakes

The larger one (10.89mm on your calipers) is about the size of the early/original studs (which was 3/8"). It's possible those were supplied by Suntour with a stainless steel cap that slides over the stud before mounting... as that's what all the later WTB RC's had as well so they would work on...

91 Merlin retro/modern/custom build (aka the Merlingham)

At first I couldn't figure out what this 30deg problem you were talking about was... I thought you might mean the posts weren't quite perpendicular to the seat stays (no where near 30deg angle there though). Then I realized you meant the "shoulder" on the brake stud itself, right? That...

91 Merlin retro/modern/custom build (aka the Merlingham)

I'm neither an engineer or a machinist, but let me offer a few corrections to some your points here. - What you're referring to as the "original WTB roller cams" are actually the later/final WTB models with the DKG-made arms. The true original WTB rollercam brake arms (sometimes referred to as...

1996 WTB Steel Phoenix 26”/650B (Restomod)

With the very tall brake linkage the concern is that, in an accident, the brake would damage the frame and/or vice-versa. If the bars (grips) squarely hit the top tube, that might not be absolutely necessary but even that can ding a TT. Definitely function over form.

    Painting a frame, where?

Spectrum Powder is in Colorado (not CA). Here's a pretty comprehensive list of the US's better painters:

    1993 Ibis Scorcher

Ha! I'd sell this one for half that price gladly. And mine has the original handlebars (which the PA one appears to be lacking).

    98+ BoTM July/August 2013 : *** VOTE NOW !!! ***

Thanks!... I'm having a great time with the new bike. It's kind of funny that the "retro" version of the Scorcher was so popular here, when the real deal didn't do so well (in rBoTM) this month. ;p

    2013 Retrotec Triple ("Scorcher")

It's both a lot of fun -- and a huge challenge (or at least learning experience). I'd never ridden a fixed gear bike before. I'm slowly progressing toward more dirt riding (fire roads now and hoping to get to some easier single track this weekend) and more city streets with stop/go, etc...

Correct. The right lever has been modified to immobilize the lever blade. It's just for a hand position.

    2013 Retrotec Triple ("Scorcher")

So this is a fun project that JUST got completed. It started about 18 months ago. I'm a big fan/collector of handmade bikes from northern California builders... especially Cunningham, Potts, WTB. But I've always had lots of admiration for Ibis, Salsa and many others. About a 18-24 months...

1993 Ibis Scorcher Build thread (and more background on Scorchers for those unfamiliar with them): http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... p;t=201931 I recognize this may be an unconventional or even controversial entry for the rBoTM category. It’s really neither a true road nor mountain...

Brake stud for an old Cannondale help/advise needed - SORTED

Re: Brake stud for an old Cannondale help/advise needed The "Suntour" (metric) sized roller cam bosses are 8.9mm dia x 16.5mm long. See here: http://www.paragonmachineworks.com/cgi- ... key=BK0009 Although those won't work for your application.

Bike of The Month June 2013 - The Poll

Interesting theory. Rather fact-free though. Percentage of overall vote that went to the winning bike(s) in each poll: (Using the data in the Wiki here: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=156635 ) It seems that Huelse's Ibis actually garnered a FAR higher percentage of the overall vote that is typcial...
