Help setting up cantilever brakes (Kinesis Crosslight 5T)

I thought that yesterday someone replied that the brake pads look too thick but now it's gone.

Advise needed for modern fork- Xfusion RC32

I finally got out for a ride today. The fork was fine. Maybe the secret is tearing it apart 3 or 4 times?

Advise needed for modern fork- Xfusion RC32

Sorry to say that life has gotten in the way and I haven't ridden in months. I tried several sizes of o rings with results as follows: 22 (ID) x 3 (cross section) was too loose against the o ring groove and leaked into lowers. 22 x 4 and 21 x 3.5 - both had OD too large, wouldn't fit inside the...

    Pinnacle iroko dropper fitting help

I would think the lever on left/ entry into left side of downtube results in a very sharp bend which is not ideal. On the right side downtube entry, Marin uses a grommet with the hole molded to align with the cable. I am using the routing as Marin designed it; never had any problems. I don't see...

    Pinnacle iroko dropper fitting help

I think you definitely want the lever on the left and the cable to enter the downtube on the right to get smooth operation. My Marin Hawk Hill is routed like that, but the cable exits on the right side of the DT above the bottom bracket, makes a smooth bend in about 5 inches, then into a hole...

Advise needed for modern fork- Xfusion RC32

I bought this fork for a song on a close-out website. Got it installed; setting sag required much less air than suggested. First ride was awful. Very harsh, so bad I only rode half-hour and quit. Tore it down to check for lube; looked good. Then I noticed the air spring did not move smoothly but...

Early 2ks Rond O24U vs 2023 SR Suntour xcr air

I have no experience with the Rond fork, but I've read that the OEM type Suntour forks benefit greatly with some lube applied to the lowers. I have two mid-level Suntour forks and a lowers service is very quick and easy. I would think the XCR is the same. Plenty of tech videos on the Suntour site.

The black art of wheel building…

I wanted to put wider rims on an old 26" hardtail using existing hubs. Internet said to just tape the new rim to the old and match the position of the spokes. So started working my way around the rim; things went okay until the last few spokes and had to bend the life out them to get in place...

    Top tube cable guide/stop

I used some plastic clips and zip ties from Amazon. I had to use a full length housing because the v-brake noodle was on the wrong side. Works great; brake returns with a snap.

Anyone ever been satisfied with Cantilever brakes ?

I started my off-roading on a Raleigh M-50 with low end Shimano cantis. I stumbled onto an article by Keith Bontrager where he gave setup tips to get more power from your brakes. Two key things: the canti arms should be angled out as far as possible and the straddle cable should be as close to...

    1996 GT LTS-2

It looks like two opposite sides of the washer are ground to less than the ID of the bushing while the two opposing ends are large enough to get under the bushing and catch it when tension is applied. The center hole is loose enough to let the washer tilt and get under the bushing. Pretty...

Shimano CN-HG93 9 Speed Bike Chain

That is an XT level chain that sells for $28-30 here in the US. I'd offer him $25.

If you are buying the angle set from RG Bike Components in Italy, rest assured it will be the absolute highest quality. I was amazed when I opened the package.

    Angle sets on older bikes....

I revived an old 26" hardtail ( MY2000). Wider rims to fit bigger tires and went from 100mm to 120mm fork travel. I believe the difference in axle to crown was about 45mm! Also installed a 1.5 degree angleset. I ride this bike on trails that are very tight, twisty, and flat. I think of it as a...

Advice on modernising a 90s Marin

I had a bike from year 2000 that was in very good condition but needed updating. I wanted bigger tires but had to lace new rims to fit them. Found a new Suntour Radon fork for cheap and a set of discontinued Shimano disc brakes. Got a bar and stem handed down from my modern bike. Kept the...

I bought a new hardtail in March. Really like the looks of the latest Chameleon but they were 4 months away so settled for something else. You've done a great job on your bike- love it!

    Angleset in a ‘99 Zaskar

I installed a 1.5 degree angleset on a 2000 Bianchi hardtail and also went to a 120mm fork (from 100mm). Bike is ridden on fairly smooth trails and no air time but I've had no problems.
