What price to pay for a good chromoly GT frame like Avalanche, Bravado or Karakoram?

The bars, as stated in a previous post came from a 1991 Trek Single Track 950. (stripped down to frame now) Front brakes came from this Trek too. The stem I found in a spares box, can't remember where it came from but it was a good fit for this build. The U Brake came from a 1991 GT Avalanche...

What price to pay for a good chromoly GT frame like Avalanche, Bravado or Karakoram?

Thank you, I thought it looks great with the black bars and stem combo. The rear brake pads will be replaced with new pads (in the post), the front ones are good.

What price to pay for a good chromoly GT frame like Avalanche, Bravado or Karakoram?

The day has come today to take my Bravado out for it's first test ride and I am impressed with how it rides already! The front mech needed slight adjustment to get onto biggest chainring but other than that it's good to go. I should have had new brake pads and cassette (HG70) delivered, but I...

What price to pay for a good chromoly GT frame like Avalanche, Bravado or Karakoram?

Hello all, It's been a while since the last update, but here it is, made some progress on this build. I fitted a new bottom bracket, a Tange Seiki 68x118, found a size suitable after playing around with different sizes. Finally got to fit the cables too, set up the gears and brakes. I have not...

    Riser bar or riser stem?

It kind of reminds me of my first ATB (a 1988 Dawes Tracker I bought in the Netherlands where I was born and lived until moving to the UK in 1990). In the Netherlands they were then referred to as All Terrain Bikes, not MTB as the more common moniker. My '88 Dawes tracker was a lovely...

    Making your own decals

That's a good place to start, and I would guess that having a clear coat or two will help protect the decals.

    Making your own decals

It's not weather proof, it's prone to fading or smudging if exposed to the elements, unless you are using a different kind of ink. Any tips or recommendations will be appreciated, I am just speaking from my experience. I am always willing to learn something new!

    Making your own decals

I have a vinyl cutter but have only made stickers on white printable vinyl for indoor use. I would like to invest in a sublimation printer for longer lasting prints on vinyl as inkjet ink doesn't cut it. However I can cut decals from coloured sheets of vinyl. I have yet to play around with...

    91 Saracen Trekker Hydrotech

Nice bike, I recently worked on one similar to this at my place of volunteering (Comac Sheffield) sadly, the frame ended up being scrapped as the seat tube was badly damaged. I suspect someone had fitted a seatpost with a much smaller diameter and forced the clamp to hold tight. it had been...
