    1992 (?) Look Mi70

Bought this and fitted it with donor parts, so it's 7 speed Shimano STX - not necessarily stock. Tektro cantilevers that I thought bore a passing resemblance to Grafton. Nice frame that's 'triple butted' apparently, and nice Ritchey forks. Paint has its fair share of scratches. Too many bikes...

    1983 Peugeot VTT

Thanks, I know what you're getting at now. I like the one that uses canti mounts, a good idea and very neat. Unfortunately they're all quite spendy and I'd like one that matches the raw aluminium of the rear rack. One of those things I'll put on the long-term search and see if one pops up.

Jimo can you give me an example of a porter rack? I'm not certain what you mean.

    1983 Peugeot VTT

Thanks gents. If the cool kids on Instamyspace are doing it then I want no part of it! Seriously though I did look for front racks briefly but I can't find a raw aluminium one like the rear one. If I see one I'll bag it. Need some giant Ever-Ready bike lights now! I've taken the plunge on...

By "popular" demand, here it is in full Adventure Spec. Can't guarantee the mudguards are period - but who has 1983 mudguards any more? And I know the rack isn't but it's nicer than the original which had horrid twisted steel brackets.

I would welcome views on whether the mudguards and rack should be fitted, as I imagine they were part and parcel of the 1983 "vibe". Since hardly anyone knew what a mountain bike was then. "We must offer it with mudguards, since it will be going near mud"

You can. They were the cheapest amber wall tyres I could find (that weren't slick) about £30 posted. Although I've since found some even cheaper ones for £20 posted that have a prominent centre ridge for on road riding which suits me just fine.

    1983 Peugeot VTT

Update, build is finally happening after about fifteen other projects finally got finished (and ANOTHER bike purchased). Coming on nicely but I need a straddle cable. I bought cheapest on eBay but the shysters sent 200mm of normal brake cable - without the wedgy bit on the end to help you pull...

    Olden days canti help

Almost fluffy, they are like that schematic but they don't have the elliptical bit in the centre for adjustment (they are very old ie 1983). 981s perhaps? The spring 'bend' method will have to suffice although the brake pads don't go past the fork blades so I'll have to adjust them AGAIN...
