Front mounted child seat on a Girving flex stem?

Re: What sort of age can you start kids on the semi-enclosed seat (eg Hamax)? They appeal to me but not sure when to start.

    Lotus (not the UK one)

Re: I wondered about splitting but like you I have too many bikes. And also no time to split and sell bits what with a five week old baby as a distraction! I was thinking of putting it on eBay starting at £99 with a reserve of £200 hoping for £250. Am I way out?

    Lotus (not the UK one)

Found the pics! Note the straight handlebars - this was when I briefly used it as an urban runaround. I am going to return it to drop-bar format before sale. Any guidance/info appreciated, I would like to sell to raise some funds now we have new baby around...

    Lotus (not the UK one)

I have a Lotus track bike that I'm thinking of selling but I'm trying to get some more info before I sell. It is the Japanese Lotus, not the Lotus that did the carbon bike for Boardman. I've done a search in here (inconclusive), and Sheldon Brown has this slim entry on his excellent site...

    continental ultra sport tyre.... 700c x 23

Anyone else struggles with these? I'm using a Vision rim and getting the tyre off involved breaking my best crank bros tyre levers. Tried all the tricks eg soapy water, leaving it to warm up in the sun etc. What an absolute sod. I can't believe how tight it is! Nb - on a new Vision rim.

    Good design/Bad design

Re: Consumer society! It's how capitalism works. Unfortunately all the established alternatives are worse! I agree, it's an unsustainable race to have bigger, better, faster, more. Always feel a pang of guilt upgrading the phone (not an iPhone). But I think we are getting better at recycling...

    Postage up yet again!

Re: Senditnow is the future, at least for large and heavy stuff. You don't even need to leave the house! For smaller stuff I totally agree with OP. I've just sold a rear pannier rack for 99p - it was EIGHT QUID to send (UK).

    British Eagle BOSS 19" Mint

There is more to learn from what isn't said in these posts than what is said. The NOS-but-not-NOS bike didn't sell, there were no bids at the £250 start price. It has not been relisted (at least not on eBay). I wish Guildford Bike Project all the best but this listing has made me think twice...

    it's postage... AND PACKING!!!

One of the things that gets my goat is people who moan about postage charges. For non-shop types like me, the P&P cost has to cover: - Packaging materials eg cardboard, tape, bubble wrap etc - Time to package. Not to be underestimated on weird-shaped items - Time to stand in the queue at post...

Have I been had? FSA Carbon post + Ultegra brakes

Mate of mine sold me an FSA K-Force SB0 seatpost plus Ultegra brake calipers f&r for £100. The seatpost is used, without packaging, but unmarked and barely used. The brakes are last-gen Ultegra I think (6700?). I had a quick look for 'posts on Ebay and there are carbon FSA ones going for...

    Carbon frame upgrade?

Re: Re: There was a cracking deal on Planet X road frame a while ago, I think frame only was £200, but it was clearance so one size only (large perhaps?). Alternatively their superlight frame is £500 inc forks but given the changeover faff and need for new suitable components (seatpost, stem...

Brakeset recommendation for 2007 Spesh FSR

I'm sick of constantly p155ing about with my Avid Juicy brakes, they leak and constantly require bleeding. Made the mistake of upgrading from Juicy 5s to Juicy 7s and they're just as bad. I'd prefer something that uses mineral oil as I just think DoT 4 brake fluid is totally unnecessary for a...
