Yes they go soft and sticky over time (UV?). Mine was like jelly too, completely unusable. I'd be interested if you find a cheap solution!

Reason I asked was because I know there were a few non-dross British Eagle bikes, eg the Boss (dons tin foil hat). The one pictured here is 531 tubing. Weirdly though it's also bolted rear hub! Not sure the lads at BE really knew what they were doing.

According to This Forum a '94 18" Kona Lava Dome frame only is 4.4lbs = 1996g. So the Cannon is cast iron, which is fitting given the name. Cheater bars it is! Grinder is revving as I speak.

Has anyone got one of those headset washer/brake hanger combo things that you route your front brake cable through if there's no stop on the stem? Need a 1 1/8" one if possible, nice and cheap! thanks

Looking for someone (bike shop or frame builder) to chase my bb shell on an aluminium Bianchi (Italian thread). I'm near Leamington but can drive the frame within 30 miles pretty easily. Am trying to avoid the wild goose chase in bike shops: "sorry mate we've only got the English thread tap"...
